What is Foot Plate?
Foot plate is placed underneath a standard scaffolding pole for added stability. It’s made from heavy-duty material that reduces the risk of sinking into soft ground under the weight of the scaffold and base plate.
The plate is durable enough to be reused on multiple projects, provided it’s in good condition. Available in yellow for visibility and to reduce the risk of trips and misplacement during setup.
Material
High-density polyethylene forms the footplate, known for being strong enough to support a scaffold base plate for load distribution.
KEY FEATURES
- High visibility: The bright yellow colour makes the foot plate highly visible on site to improve scaffold safety awareness.
- Lightweight: Despite being heavy-duty, the lightweight plastic construction keeps each foot plate easy to use and quick to put in place.
Good for:
- Providing support to vertical scaffold poles
- Preventing damage to the ground
BENEFITS
- Stable base: The foot plate provides a firm and secure support under scaffold standards and on uneven surfaces.
- Easy handling: This foot plate is simple to move and position for straightforward adjustments.*
*But the combined weight with scaffold base plates can be significant, so care should be taken during handling.
OTHER GENERAL NAMES
Foot plate, base plate, foot pad, support plate, or tredda – a genericised industry term for plastic foot plates.

FAQ
How to foot plates handle weight?
Foot plates handle weight by distributing the load of scaffold base plates evenly. That weight is supported by the standards and base plates, not by the foot plate alone.
Can foot plates be used on soft surfaces?
Yes. Foot plates give stable support and help protect surfaces such as grass, concrete, or paving from damage.
